As a teacher, I support policies that forward this end by attracting top-tier teaching talent, providing standards for student achievement and better long term outcomes for our state's students and by extension our state's economy. | |||

Therefore, the citizens of Pennsylvania should reap the benefits of natural gas drilling, both in the revenues it generates for land-owners, and the increased revenue for public goods, generated by the economic activity in the state. | |||

| Mandatory minimums remove judicial discretion, and generate situations where judges are forced by statute to hand down sentences they believe disproportionate to the crime committed. Even when dealing with very difficult issues of gun violence, I believe it to be better left to judges and juries to evaluate individual cases, than institute an immovable framework where over-sentencing can occur. There are many things (red-flag laws, etc.) that can increase our societal responsiveness to issues of gun violence without resorting to mandatory minimums, which in other areas appear to be bad policy. | |||

I support creating a situation in all cases where medical guidance can be followed, and these deeply personal decisions can be made between patients, doctors, and families without fear of cost or intrusion by the government. Pennsylvanians should have the freedom to make all medical decisions in the best interest of themselves and their families. The government should ensure programs to make sure all Pennsylvanians, especially our most vulnerable citizens, can live in health, wellbeing, freedom, and dignity. | |||

| One of my key priorities is making sure our state's seniors are secure, healthy and can age in place. Our state's population is aging, and we need to be forward thinking about investing in infrastructure and talent to meet the needs of this population. Caring for our seniors isn't just about helping seniors, it is also about helping families navigate the retirement and care of their aging loved ones. This issue effects us all. | |||
| My top priority is increasing the quality and availability of education at all levels, from early childhood and pre-K all the way through college. Funding this won't be easy, and it will take a combination of federal, state and local dollars. To fund it at the state level, we should implement tax reform, like closing the Delaware loophole and reviewing mechanisms of our tax code to ensure that more of our money is used to ensure that Pennsylvanians are set up for success through education. Education is an investment in our state's economic future, further boosting these revenues. |
